Printed Image Resolution
When preparing images on your computer for printing onto transparency, it is important to consider image resolution. Resolution for printer output and scanner input is commonly expressed as dots per inch or "dpi." The higher your image resolution, the sharper it will be when projected at large scale. Although we have successfully projected images with a resolution as low as 72 dpi, we recommend a minimum setting of 300 dpi for graphics work, and 600 dpi for photographic images.

Photographic images prepared on film at a lab are not affected by these issues.
